Fromagerie Tournevent History:
In 1979, with no market for goat’s milk in Canada.
René Marceau, used his technical creativity, and Lucie Chartier, with her fine culinary skills, produced the first cheeses.
Together with some friends, they became farmer cheesemakers, that is, they undertook the raising, production, processing and marketing of goat milk products.
The year 1982 marks the beginning of a business connection with Anco Canada
Tournevent’s market thus covers all of Canada.
The young enterprise built its skills on the basis of quality and innovation.
In 1986, breeding was taken over by producers in a cooperative.
This enabled their Tournevent’s people to devote themselves entirely to the processing and marketing of an increasing number of varied goat cheeses.
The honours bestowed upon the “le Biquet”, “le Tournevent” and “le Toutchèvre” products soon confirmed the excellence of their know-how in the soft-cheese sector.

The year 1988 marked the birth of a cheese with a prestigious fate: the “Chèvre Noir”.
This cheddar-style goat cheese, aged for a minimum of one year, was perfected by cheesemaker Louise Lefebvre, who has been practicing her art at Tournevent since 1984.
It is coated with black wax and it's aroma is reminiscent of cheddar
